Defining

 

  1. What is your project about
  2. What do you already know
  3. Use the QUESTIONS to work out what information you need to find out
  4. Have a PLAN, do one part of your project at a time. Look at the Super 3 powerpoint to plan your project  The Super 3.ppt

Locating 

 

Locating a Website 

  1. Use a search engine    Google     Ask       Dogpile

  2. Choose the best search for your information need: Noodletools http://www.noodletools.com/debbie/literacies/information/5locate/adviceengine.html

  3. Use keywords to search for a list of websites.

  4. Read each result for suitable websites. 

  5. Look for URLs with  .au (australia) , .gov(government) and .edu (education), .org (organisation)

 

 Locating a book

 

  1. Search Web Library for Non Fiction and reference books on your topic.

  2. Use the call number to find your book on the shelf.

  3. Read the shelf markers and signs to find the right shelf.

Selecting information in a Book

 

  1. Use the Table of content and the index to look for your project keywords
  2. Share the book with others
  3. Read the information carefully
  4. Change the information into your own words
  5. Return the book to the correct shelf

Organising your information

 

Draw a planning sheet

  1. Write your topic in the centre

  2. Write your headings around the outside

  3. List your information underneath each heading using dot points


Presenting your information

 

  1. Design a large heading for your topic
  2. Write nad underline your headings.
  3. Use the dot points to write sentences and paragraphs under each heading
  4. Add a picture or labelled diagram
