Kidcyber
Kidcyber provides relevant information to support HSIE units of work under the headings: People and Places, Australia, Planet Earth, Sports, Technology and Inventions, Animals. Topic information builds from simple sentences to complex paragraphs. Additional web links are provided at the bottom of each page, as well as links to other Kidcyber pages. Kidcyber is particularly useful when using the Interactive whiteboard to locate and highlight keywords and facts.
Australian Cultural Portal
A useful website to support students in the search for information related to australian culture and history. Information is presented in clear concise sentences and is supported by hyperlinks and images. The Asutralian stories secion of the site is an excellent source of information for most stage 3 units of work.
Facts Sheets on Australia
A source of current information about australia's population, geography, cultural diversity and customs. The site has many links to pages containing facts and figures about australia.
Behind the News
A helpful site in researching current news issues as well as media studies. The site has sections to support teachers and students as they explore current news issues. The sites offers both transcripts and video of stories current and previous stories.
Powerhouse Museum
Search the collection of the Powerhouse Muesum to view photos of historical and technological items. Navigational arrows allow viewers to zoom in to take a closer look at items. Most items are accompanied by a description of the item as well as the notes outlining the items historical significance.

Country Areas Program- Research Modules
Learning tasks are set up for students to research a range HSIE topics across each of the stages. A clear outline of each task is provided along with appropriate websites. Tasks also may include presentation details and assesment criteria. Refer to the HSIE Scope and Sequence table for directions to specific website to support individual units of work.

Lake Monmorah Public School
This public school created web site offers both information and learning activities to support the HSIE scope and sequence. There are four main areas which to access content according to stages: Cloze, Research Tasks, Treasure Hunts and Theme pages. Although there maybe some repetion in units presented the material provides for every aspect of teaching and learning i.e. printable cloze passages, additional web links for further research and online reasearch tasks.
Inter-Lace- Topic Weblinks
Weblinks and activities specifically designed to support the NSW DET HSIE syllabus. Topics are arranged alphabetically rather than by stages. Each topic offers information and activities as well as additional weblinks for further research. Developed by a retired Teacher Librarian this site is kept up to date and relevant to current events and issues.

This site offers teachers professional development opportunites, teaching resources and internet links to support the teaching od history within the HSIE syllabus.

It may take some time to select the most suitable website, however each site is related to the topic and appropriate for student use.
